Mass spectrometry

An ionizing technique that uses the mass of compounds to identify and quantitate them. Peptides, catecholamines, bile acids, and various drugs are analyzed by this method.

A process that separates and identifies molecules by ionizing them, assessing their ratio of mass to ionic charge, and measuring the electrical current they generate.

A technique utilized for examining a test sample through the conversion of a segment of the sample into electrically charged ions, followed by the measurement of the resulting electric current generated upon the collision of the charged ions with a detector. Mass spectrometry enables the measurement of both the quantity and the composition of a substance within the test sample.
