Medical treatment (For alcoholism)

Includes intervention-emergency treatment and medical approaches based on the metabolism alcohol and its pharmacological effects on the body. The intervention-emergency treatment consists of detoxification and the use of anticonvulsive drugs and sedatives to reduce mortality and morbidity rates form severe intoxication and past intoxication complications. These are associated with the withdrawal syndrome. In addition, complications from prolonged, excessive alcohol intake such as gastritis, liver disease, and nutritional deficiencies are treated.
