Medulla

The deep, inner substance or tissue of an organ or part, as of the kidney or of a hair.

The soft inner part of an organ, as opposed to the outer cortex.

Any structure similar to bone marrow.

Medullae, innermost part of an organ or structure, as in the adrenal medulla.

Innermost area of an organ or structure; for example, a lymph node or the kidney.

The innermost portion of an organ. For example, the core tissue of the kidney is referred to as the medulla of the kidney. The term medulla is sometimes used to refer to the medulla oblongata, the part of the brain stem that joins the spinal cord.

The inner region of any organ or tissue when it is distinguishable from the outer region (the cortex), particularly the inner part of the kidney, adrenal glands, or lymph nodes.

The inside part of an organ or tissue that is distinct from the outer part for example, the marrow in the centre of a long bone, or the inner portion of the kidneys or adrenal glands.

Region of the brain stem that contains the vital life support centers that control autonomic processes such as heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, and digestion.

The medulla refers to the innermost section of a bodily structure. For instance, the adrenal medulla is the core region of an adrenal gland. Additionally, “medulla” can also denote the medulla oblongata.

The inner substance of bones, or any material that has a similar structure to bone marrow. It can refer to a fatty substance filling specific cavities or the core part of an organ, as opposed to its outer layer or cortex.

The medulla oblongata is a section of the brain that connects with the spinal cord.
