Metacarpal bones

The bones between the wrist and fingers.

The five long bones which occupy the hand between the carpal bones at the wrist and the phalanges of the fingers. The large rounded ‘knuckles’ at the root of the fingers are formed by the heads of these bones.

A hand contains five elongated, cylindrical bones. These bones extend from the wrist to the foundation of each finger, and the knuckles are created by the heads of these bones.
