Metatarsal bones

The five long bones of the foot.

The five bones in the foot which correspond to the metacarpal bones in the hand, lying between the tarsal bones, at the ankle, and the toes.

Among the five elongated, cylindrical bones found in the foot, the metatarsal bones constitute the core structure. These bones link the phalanges (toe bones) with the tarsal bones (ankle-forming bones). Ligaments encircling these bones work to hold them together in an arch formation.
