A colourless flammable gas with no smell.
An odourless, colourless, highly flammable gas which occurs naturally in gas from coal mines and oil wells. ‘Natural’ gas supplied to homes and industries is almost 100 per cent methane. It is not poisonous unless present in large amounts, when it may displace oxygen and thus asphyxiate (suffocate) anyone exposed to it. Decomposition of organic matter produces methane.
A colorless, odorless, inflammable gas. It is produced as a result of putrefaction and fermentation of organic matter. It is a major component of natural gas.
Methane is a transparent, scentless, and extremely flammable gas that can be found naturally in oil wells and coal mines. It’s also generated through the breakdown of organic materials and is among the gases found in digestive gases.
