An essential uterine haemorrhage, where the lining of the uterus swells and there is heavy menstrual bleeding.
A disorder characterized by irregular bouts of uterine bleeding without previous ovulation due to excessive oestrogenic activity. It is associated with endometrial hyperplasia and cysts of the ovary.
Irregular and heightened menstrual bleeding, occasionally persistent, arises from an excess of estrogen hormones. These elevated estrogen levels trigger the overgrowth, or hyperplasia, of the endometrium, which lines the uterus.
