Minilaparotomy

A type of medical procedure for female sterilization akin to tubal ligation.

A procedure used in tubal ligation, a sterilization method for women. The doctor makes a small incision near the pubic bone and pulls the fallopian tubes through the opening, ties them off with bands or surgical clips, and stitches the incision closed. This procedure is common in other countries but is rarely used in the United States, where laparoscopy is preferred.

An incision of the abdominal wall into the peritoneum that is less than 5 cm long.

A type of abdominal tubal ligation in which the incision is very small and only local anesthesia is needed.
