An antibiotic which helps to prevent cancer cells from growing, used especially in the chemotherapy treatment of bladder and rectal cancers.
An anticancer antibiotic derived from Streptomyces caespitosus, functioning as a dual or triple-action alkylating agent, leading to DNA cross-linking and inhibiting DNA synthesis. It is particularly effective in the late G1 and early S phases of the cell cycle. This antibiotic shows efficacy against carcinomas of the stomach, pancreas, colon, rectum, breast, lung, and head and neck, as well as in treating chronic myelogenous leukemia.
