Moraxella

Genus within the bacteriological family of the Brucellaceae, consisting of Gram-negative aerobic non-motile rods, some 2μm x 1μm, in pairs end-to-end. Catalase and oxidase positive, no action on sugars. Growth aided by moist media which include blood or serum.

A genus of gram-negative coccobacilli in the family Neisseriaceae; most are nonpathogenic inhabitants of mammalian mucous membranes.

This refers to a set of bacteria present in numerous mammals, including humans. These bacteria can lead to various health issues. For instance, Moraxella Lacunata can result in conjunctivitis and corneal infections (the clear layer in front of the eye). Meanwhile, M. Catarrhalis sometimes triggers otitis media (middle ear infection) and specific upper respiratory infections like sinusitis and bronchitis.
