Mottle

An effect observed in radiological imaging when the dose of radiation employed is reduced to a level where individual quantum effects can be seen. Instead of a uniform beam of radiation, the number of photons being produced is so low that the statistical variations in x-ray production can be visualized.

This is a botanical phenomenon where minute and abundant discolorations are present on the surface of a leaf. Typically, these areas exhibit a greenish-yellow color, which is indicative of a lack of chlorophyll. These regions lack a clear and distinct boundary, and their shape is irregular and unpredictable. They appear as a striking pattern that contrasts with the surrounding area. This pattern does not conform to the leaf’s veins, but rather stands out independently.
