In obstetrics, collection of thick mucus, often streaked with blood, that is expelled from the cervix of the uterus just before labor begins or during the early stages of labor. Also used to describe an accumulation of mucus that blocks a bronchus, especially during an asthma attack.
A mass of cells and mucus that closes the cervical canal of the uterus during pregnancy and between menstrual periods.
