Myxoma

A benign tumour of mucous tissue, usually found in subcutaneous tissue of the limbs and neck.

Usually benign jellylike tumor of connective tissue that may grow to large size. Symptoms depend on the location of the tumor and result from pressure on or interference with the function of an adjacent or underlying organ.

A noncancerous tumor occurring in soft tissue, such as muscles and ligaments. Myxoma is a jelly-like tumor that usually develops under the skin. The uncommon tumors may also appear in the jaw hones or within muscles. Myxomas can grow very large.

A benign gelatinous tumor of connective tissue. Atrial myxoma is a tumor of the heart, usually of the left side, arising from the septum dividing the two upper chambers. Symptoms may include fever, lassitude, joint pains, and sudden loss of consciousness due to obstruction of the blood-flow. The tumor may be wrongly diagnosed as stenosis of the mitral valve as it can produce a similar murmur. Treatment is by surgical removal.

A benign tumour comprising gelatinous connective tissue, most commonly occurring beneath the skin although the condition may develop in the abdomen, urinary bladder bone and, rarely, the heart. Treatment involves surgery, which is usually successful.

Tumor composed of mucous connective tissue similar to that present in the embryo or umbilical cord. Cells are stellate or spindle-shaped and separated by mucoid tissue. The tumors are usually soft, gray, lobulated, and translucent and are not completely encapsulated. Myxomas may be pure or of mixed types involving other types of tissue.

A benign, gelatinous tumor consisting of soft mucus-like substance and loosely woven fibrous strands characterizes myxomas. Typically, myxomas manifest as solitary growths, occasionally attaining significant size. These growths may emerge beneath the skin, within the abdominal region, or extremely rarely, within the heart chambers. When situated in the heart, blood clots (thrombi) might develop, potentially obstructing blood flow through the heart. Fortunately, surgical removal is generally effective in managing myxomas.

A tumor that originates from connective tissue and is rich in mucoid substance.
