Narcotic antagonists

A group of drugs that act on the central nervous system to eliminate or relieve the effects of narcotics. They may block the euphoric effects of the narcotics being used or trigger a withdrawal syndrome. Often used to treat overdose cases.


Drug (e.g., naloxone) used to counter the effects of narcotics, especially respiratory depression.


A drug that prevents or reverses the action of a narcotic.
