Naturopathic medicine

The philosophy and practice of healing that relies primarily on the use of nutrition, herbal remedies, homeopathy, massage, and counseling to promote wellness and healthy lifestyles. Other modalities used include such disciplines as aromatherapy, color therapy, traditional Chinese medicine, and iridology.


A system of natural medicine that focuses on working with the healing systems of the body. Naturopathic doctors are trained as primary health care providers. As general practitioners, they work to restore health using clinical nutrition, herbal medicine, homeopathy, physical medicine, counseling, nutritional supplementation, natural hormones, hydrotherapy, and other forms of natural healing. They are also trained in the use of pharmaceutical medicines and minor surgery.


Also known as naturopathy. It is an alternative medical system in which practitioners work with natural healing forces within the body, with a goal of helping the body heal from disease and attain better health. Practices may include dietary modifications, massage, exercise, acupuncture, minor surgery, and various other interventions.
