Abnormal condition in which a nerve is subjected to repeated or long-term compression, resulting m nerve damage, often with symptoms of pain and muscle weakness. It most commonly involves nerves located near joints subject to inflammation or swelling, as in arthritis or pregnancy. Carpal tunnel syndrome is a type of nerve entrapment.
