Nociception

Perception by nerves of injury or pain.

The stimulus-response process involving the stimulation of peripheral pain-carrying nerve fibers (e.g., C-fibers, A-delta fibers) and the transmission of impulses along peripheral nerves to the central nervous system, where the stimulus is perceived as pain.

The process by which the nervous system detects and transmit injury-related information. It doesn’t imply conscious perception of pain; it merely qualifies the neural process of detecting and processing an injury. Nociception describes the response of individual neurons or of a network of neurons to a painful stimulus, not the perception of the stimulus as painful.
