Nondisjunction

Failure of chromosomes to separate in cell division, with the result that both go to the same cell. Particularly, failure of maternal and paternal chromosomes to separate in the reduction division of meiosis.

Failure of homologous pairs of chromosomes to separate during the processes of nuclear division, resulting in an abnormal number of chromosomes in the daughter cells.

A condition in which pairs of homologous chromosomes fail to separate during meiosis or a chromosome fails to divide at anaphase of mitosis or meiosis. It results in a cell with an abnormal number of chromosomes.

The failure of a pair of chromosomes to separate during meiosis, allowing one daughter cell to have two chromosomes and the other to have none.
