Nursing facility

Formerly known as a nursing home, a facility that offers a combination of housing, personal services, and health care to older or disabled people who are unable to care for themselves independently. Today a wide spectrum of nursing facilities is designed to fit different levels of needs. Assisted living and residential care models are geared toward people who must give up household chores but do not require continuous medical attention. The goal in these facilities is to provide maximum independence in a homelike environment.
