Nystatin

Macrolide antifungal antibiotic complex produced by Streptomyces noursei, S. aureus, and other Streptomyces species. The biologically active components of the complex are nystatin A1, A2, and A3.


An anti-microbial drug used in the treatment of fungal infections, especially thrush.


Antifungal and antibiotic, available as a topical cream, as a suppository, in eyedrops, and for oral administration; it is used to treat gastrointestinal, skin, and vaginal infections.


An antifungal drug. Nystatin (Mycostatin, Nilstat, Nystex) is used to treat infections caused by a fungus. This drug works by killing the fungus or preventing its growth. Nystatin is used to treat infections in the mouth, the vagina, and the intestines and on the skin.


An antibiotic active against fungi. It is applied as a cream for skin infections, by mouth for intestinal infections, as pessaries or suppositories for vaginal or anal infections, or as eye-drops for eye infections. Side-effects include mild digestive upsets.


An antibiotic, isolated from Streptomyces noursei, active against Candida albicans. It is not absorbed from the gut but is useful in gastrointestinal and skin candidosis.


Nystatin is an antifungal medication used to treat candidiasis, also known as thrush. It’s available in various forms like tablets, liquid, pessaries, creams, or ointments and is considered safe for use during pregnancy. However, when taken in high doses orally, it might lead to side effects like diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain.
