A therapeutic device worn around the neck to provide support for the neck. An orthopedic collar may be made of rigid plastic for firm support during daily activities. During sleep, a softer, more comfortable, cotton collar may be worn. Orthopedic collars may be the first line of treatment for cervical osteoarthritis when there is persistent pain. The collar may also be a component of ongoing treatment for osteoarthritis, as well as for a prolapsed disk in the neck portion of the spinal column.
