Otolith

One of the small particles of calcium carbonate associated with a macula in the saccule or utricle of the inner ear.


Microscopic crystals of calcium carbonate on the hair cells of the maculae of the utricle and saccule of the middle ear. These are important in sensing the orientation to gravity.


A calcified deposit developed within the membranous labyrinth of the ear.
