Ozena

A disorder of the nasal mucosa in which the sides of the nasal cavity become atrophied, with the production of an offensive discharge and crusts.

A disease of the nose characterized by atrophy of the turbinates and mucous membrane accompanied by considerable crusting, discharge, and an offensive odor. It is present in various forms of rhinitis.

An uncommon and serious type of rhinitis involves the degeneration of the mucous membrane within the nasal passage, leading to the drying and crusting of a dense nasal discharge. This condition, known as Ozena, frequently results in pronounced halitosis (unpleasant breath odor).
