    A treatment approach for poliomyelitis, credited to the Australian nurse who pioneered it. This technique involves enveloping the patient’s back and limbs in woolen fabrics soaked in hot water. Once the limb pain subsides, passive movement is introduced, and the patient is guided to independently exercise their muscles.  

  • Homologous serum jaundice

    Jaundice linked to liver inflammation. It’s believed to spread by using a syringe and needle on a patient after it was previously used on another patient carrying the causative agent of this jaundice type. This agent can withstand boiling, the standard method for syringe sterilization, but is eliminated by high-pressure steam sterilization.  

  • Black jaundice

    A life-threatening condition in newborns marked by bleeding, jaundice, and blood in the urine. Also known as Winckel’s disease.  

  • Isometropia

    Having identical refraction strength in both eyes.  

  • Iridochoroiditis

    Inflammation affecting the iris, the colored portion of the eye, and the choroid, the eye’s middle layer.  

  • Involution melancholia

    A deep depression experienced by elderly individuals caused by a type of brain fibrosis, commonly referred to as “softening of the brain.”

    A condition where an organ is located on the side opposite its usual position.  

  • Inundation fever

    A disease belonging to the typhus category is passed to humans through the bite of a mite, which is often found on field mice and rats.
