    Surgery to replace lost tissues by grafting similar tissues from another person. Surgical repair of defective or damaged tissues or organs with a homograft.  

  • Homonymous hemianopia

    A condition in which the same half of the field of vision is lost in each eye. Blindness of nasal half of the visual field of one eye and temporal half of the other, or right-sided or left-sided hemianopsia of corresponding sides in both eyes.  

  • Homonymous

    Affecting the two eyes in the same way.  

  • Homogenise

    To give something a uniform nature.  

  • Homeopathist

    A person who practises homeopathy.

    Pain in the calf when the foot is bent back, a sign of deep-vein thrombosis [Described 1941.   • Holocrine

    Referring to a gland where the secretions are made up of disintegrated cells of the gland itself. Describing a gland or type of secretion in which the entire cell disintegrates when the product is released. To a secretory gland or its secretions consisting of altered cells of the same gland, the opposite of merocrine.  

  • Holistic care

    The care and treatment of a whole person rather than just of his or her medical symptoms.
