    A system of HLA antigens on the surface of cells which need to be histocompatible to allow transplants to take place.

    Referring to someone who has been tested and shown not to have HIV. Refers to a negative test result for the HIV (AIDS) virus or HIV antibodies, indicating the person does not have HIV infection.

    Referring to a substance which is poisonous to tissue. Poisonous to tissues: applied to certain substances and conditions.

    The background information on someone’s illness. Information about a patient obtained by questioning the patient and the patient’s family, in contrast to information obtained through testing and physical examination.
