    A scheme classifying educational objectives according to six levels of cognition, from lowest to highest in complexity, wherein the ability to demonstrate skill in each level presupposes and depend upon achievement of those preceding it in the hierarchy: (a) knowledge, (b) comprehension, (c) application, (d) analysis, (e) synthesis, and (f) evaluation.

    A classification of learning levels or thinking levels. Some classifications, such as Bloom’s, are hierarchical.

    A realistic rather than ego-defensive mechanism to dealing with stress.  

  • Task orientation

    The achievement attitude toward a task, ego orientation.  

  • Task goals

    Statements of desired outcomes that emphasize concern for what is to be done and focus upon achievement of objectives.
