Consists of three traditional areas: health education, health services, and healthful school environment.  

General assistance given by school health personnel (nurses, health educators, and physicians) to pupils and their parents to help them solve health problems that hinder students’ ability to learn, cf: health guidance.  

A practitioner who is professionally prepared in school health education, meets state teaching requirements, and demonstrates competence in the development, delivery, and evaluation of curricula for learners in the school setting that enhance health knowledge, attitudes, problem-solving skills, and behaviors.  

Directed by Elena Sliepcevich in 1961, was part of the overall curriculum reforms efforts that resulted from the Sputnik launch by the Soviet Union. The resulted in the conceptual approach to curriculum design in health education.
