  • Double blind procedure

    A method for reducing the biasing effects of the expectations of subject and experimenter. Neither is allowed to know whether the independent variable of the experiment is being applied to the particular subject.  

  • Double blind design

    A procedure for comparing the effectiveness of a drug with that of a placebo. Neither the subjects nor the experimenter know which of the agents the subjects are given, the actual drug or the placebo, double blind technique.  

  • Double-barreled question

    In research, two questions rolled into one, making it impossible to determine to which question the respondent is responding.  

  • Double approach/avoidance conflict

    In psychology, conflict instigated by the necessity of making a choice between two objects neither of which is wholly desirable or undesirable.  

  • Dose-response curve

    A graph showing the relationship between the size of a drug dose and the size of the response, dose-response relationship. A graph charting the effect of a specific dose of drug, chemical, or ionizing radiation. In radiology, also called survival curve.

    Round upper back, kyphosis.

    The artery whose pulse is palpable on the dorsal surface of the foot. The supplies the medial foot and great toe.
