  • Trivalent

Having a valence of three. Combining with or replacing three hydrogen atoms.

  • Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole

An antibiotic drug used to treat infection and prevent pneumocystis carinii pneumonia.

  • Triclosan

A diphenyl ether derivative used in cosmetics and toilet soaps as an antiseptic. It has some bacteriostatic and fungistatic action. Triclosan is an antiseptic employed to disinfect the skin. Medical professionals, including doctors and hospital staff, often utilize triclosan to cleanse their hands prior to conducting surgical procedures.

  • Treatment outcome

Evaluation undertaken to assess the results or consequences of management and procedures used in combating disease in order to determine the efficacy, effectiveness, safety, practicability, etc., of these interventions in individual cases or series.

  • Treatment failure

A measure of the quality of health care by assessment of unsuccessful results of management and procedures used in combating disease, in individual cases or series.

  • Transplantation

    Transplantation

Transference of a tissue or organ, alive or dead, within an individual, between individuals of the same species, or between individuals of different species. The stage of cancer during which cancer cells move into different parts of the body. The act of transplanting something. Implantation of a living body part, organ, or tissue graft from…

  • Translocation

The movement of material in solution inside the body of the plant. Genetic mutation in which a section of a chromosome “breaks off” and moves to a new (abnormal) position in that (or a different) chromosome. A chromosomal malfunctioning characterized by a portion of a chromosome from one group to, in effect, create a new…

  • Translational

The cleavage of signal sequence that directs the passage of the protein through a cell or organelle membrane. The production of protein from RNA. The synthesis of protein using the message for amino acid sequence carried by mRNA. Occurs on the ribosomes.

  • Transferases

Transferases are enzymes transferring a group, for example, the methyl group or a glycosyl group, from one compound (generally regarded as donor) to another compound (generally regarded as acceptor). The classification is based on the scheme “donor:acceptor group transferase”. (Enzyme Nomenclature, 1992) EC 2. Enzymes that catalyze the transfer of functional groups to molecules (from…

  • Transfer factor

Factor derived from leukocyte lysates of immune donors which can transfer both local and systemic cellular immunity to nonimmune recipients. Low-molecular-weight chemicals extracted from immune cells activated to respond to specific antigens. These products can be taken from a sensitized person and given to another. As a result of this transfer, the recipient will react…
