  • Particle

    A tiny mass of material. A very small piece of matter. A very small piece or part of matter; a tiny fragment or trace.

    Recurring in paroxysms (= spasms or seizures). Referring to a paroxysm, or similar to a paroxysm.

    The space that contains the parotid gland, the facial nerve, the external carotid artery, and the retromandibular vein. A gland located in front of each ear that produces saliva for the mouth to aid in the digestion of starch.

  • Paneth cells

    Epithelial cells found in the basal part of the intestinal glands (crypts of Lieberkuhn). Paneth cells synthesize and secrete lysozyme and cryptdins. Large secretory cells containing coarse granules, found at the blind end of the crypts of Lieberkiihn (the intestinal glands). They secrete lysozyme.  

  • Pancreatic juice

    The fluid containing digestive enzymes secreted by the pancreas in response to food in the duodenum. The alkaline digestive juice produced by the pancreas and secreted into the duodenum.   • Palmitic acid

    A common saturated fatty acid found in fats and waxes including olive oil, palm oil, and body lipids. A saturated fatty acid (06:0). A saturated fatty acid with 16 carbon atoms is common in fats and oils.  

  • Pachymeningitis

    Inflammation of the dura mater of the brain, the spinal cord or the optic nerve. Inflammation of the dura mater, the outermost layer of the three protective coverings around the brain.
