Mindblown: a blog about philosophy.

  • RhBMP (abbrev)

    Recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein.

  • RFA (abbrev)

    Resonance frequency analysis.

  • Revolutions per minute (RPM)

Speed at which a shaft turns. It is recorded as the number of complete (360°) revolutions the shaft makes in a minute.

  • Reversible splint

A device used for, or method of, splinting or fixing teeth that does not change or alter the structure of the involved teeth.

  • Reversible hydrocolloids

Gels that solidify by cooling and return to a flowable state when the temperature is increased.

  • Reverse torque value (RTV)

Resulting value of the torsional force required to unscrew an implant body from its osteotomy. It is assumed that RTV would increase as osseointegration progresses during the healing phase.

  • Reverse torque test (RTT)

Experimental procedure in which an implant is subjected to unscrewing to determine the relative strength of attachment between the implant and bone. It is usually done on a comparative basis between differing implant surface topographies or roughness. It is assumed that the reverse torque value (RTV) will increase as the process of osseointegration progresses. RTT…

  • Reverse curve

When viewed in the sagittal plane, the occlusal plane position as outlined by the cusp tips and incisal edges of the teeth is curved upward.

  • Reverse articulation teeth

Artificial teeth that are shaped to allow for the buccal cusp of the maxillary teeth to be arranged in the central fossae of the mandibular teeth.

  • Reverse articulation

Positioning of the mandibular teeth that is more buccal than normal relative to the maxillary teeth, such that the fossae of the mandibular teeth articulate with the buccal cusp of the maxillary teeth.
