Usually evergreen, broad-leafed forest type with high, evenly distributed rainfall throughout the year.
Dense forest growing in regions of high rainfall, mainly in the tropics. True rainforest is characterized by an unbroken foliage canopy and the presence of many large climbing plants and epiphytes, though in cooler areas the epiphytes are mostly smaller mosses, liverworts and lichens.
