Renal rickets

A form of rickets caused by kidneys which do not function properly.


A disturbance in epiphyseal growth during childhood due to severe chronic renal insufficiency resulting in persistent acidosis. Dwarfism and failure of gonadal development result. The pognosis is poor.


A type of rickets caused by the kidneys’ inability to keep a balanced ratio of calcium to phosphate in the blood. It is also referred to as renal osteodystrophy.
