Resuscitation

Artificial resuscitation.


The act of reviving someone who seems to be dead, by making him or her breathe again and restarting the heart.


An attempt to restore heartbeat and breathing in a person who is apparently dead or at least has stopped breathing.


Act of reviving a person or returning him/her to consciousness through the use of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and similar techniques.


The process of restoring breathing to an injured person. Resuscitation is used as first aid to help people who have stopped breathing because they are choking, have heart disease, or were rescued while drowning, and for other causes. Resuscitation of a person who is choking usually involves using the Heimlich maneuver; a person who has stopped breathing because of heart problems is usually resuscitated through cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR); and a person drowning may be resuscitated with rescue breathing.


Revival after apparent death; also called anabiosis.


Revitalizing an individual who has lost consciousness or reviving their breathing function.


Reviving individuals who seem lifeless using artificial breathing and external heart massage.
