A method of measuring refractive errors in the eye using a retinoscope.
An objective method of determining refractive errors of the eye. The examiner projects light into the eyes and judges error of refraction by the movement of reflected light rays.
Retinoscopy is a vision examination method wherein a retinoscope emits a light beam into each eye sequentially. By observing how various lenses alter the path of the light beam, it is determined whether corrective glasses are necessary to address refractive issues like hypermetropia (longsightedness), myopia (shortsightedness), or astigmatism. This technique is especially valuable for evaluating the vision of infants and young children.
The practice of assessing the eye’s refractive capabilities.
