Rhabdovirus

Any of a group of viruses containing RNA, one of which causes rabies.


Any of a group of rod shaped RNA viruses with one important member, the rabies virus, being pathogenic to humans. The virus has a predilection for the tissue of mucus-secreting glands and the central nervous system. All warm-blooded animals are susceptible to infection with these viruses.


A category of virus known for its elongated or bullet-shaped structure, referred to as rhabdovirus. The rabies virus is a member of the Rhabdoviridae family of viruses.
