Rule

In the executive branch of the Federal Government, an agency statement of general or particular applicability and future effect designed to implement, interpret or prescribe law or policy, or describing the organization, procedure or practice requirements of an agency. Commonly also called a regulation. Rides are published in the Federal Register. The process of writing a rule is called a rulemaking. A rule, once adopted in accordance with the procedures specified in the Administrative Procedure Act (Title V, U.S.C.), has the force of law.
