A drug used to treat noncancerous enlargement of the prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH). Tamsulosin (Flomax) is used to treat the symptoms of BPH, a condition that can occur in men as they age. BPH can cause problems urinating, including the need to urinate frequently and the feeling of not being able to empty the bladder completely. Tamsulosin works by relaxing the muscles in the prostate and the opening of the bladder, helping to increase the flow of urine. Tamsulosin cannot shrink the prostate.
An alpha-blocker medication utilized for managing urinary issues linked to an enlarged prostate gland. Potential side effects consist of lowered blood pressure, fatigue, dryness in the mouth, and digestive discomforts.
