Temperate

Strictly speaking, those regions lying between the tropic of Capricorn and the Arctic Circle and between the Tropic of Cancer and the Antarctic Circle, known as the north and south temperate zones respectively. Used in a more general way to refer to climates without extremes of heat or cold. Often subdivided approximately into cool-temperate, warm-temperate, and subtropical, the latter applying to regions no more than 5 to 10 degrees of latitude beyond the tropic.
