Therapeutic equivalents

Drug products with essentially identical effects in treatment of some disease or condition. Such products are sometimes, but not necessarily, chemically equivalent or bio equivalent. Therapeutic equivalents are sometimes defined as chemically equivalent, and drugs with the same treatment effect, which are not chemically equivalent, called clinically equivalent. This is a useful distinction but inconsistently used.

Drugs that have the same pharmacological effects and actions in the treatment of illnesses, even though the drugs may not be chemically equivalent.
