Of leaves with teeth or serrations on the margin, as in rose leaves. In botanical usage toothing is distinguished as dentate, with teeth pointing straight out, or serrate, with teeth pointing forward as in a saw.


Shallowly but sharply notched, with the teeth directed outwards.
