Trabecular bone

Trabecular cancellous bone consists of bone trabeculae, thin plates or spicules with thickness ranging from 50 μm to 400 μm. Trabeculae are interconnected in a honeycomb, nonending, porous system. The pattern of the trabeculae is oriented according to mechanical stress to ensure maximal adaptation to a given stress pattern.
