Triiodothyronine (T3)

A hormone that helps regulate growth and development, metabolism, and body temperature.


One of the two hormones that are secreted by the thyroid gland and are responsible for controlling the metabolism of the body. Although available in pill form, it is not usually prescribed for patients with hypothyroidism because it does not provide as good control as thyroxine.
