Trimethoprim

A synthetic drug used in the treatment of malaria.

It is used mainly in the treatment of chronic urinary-tract infections and malaria and is often administered, by mouth, in a combined preparation with sulfamethoxazole. Long-term treatment may cause depression of the bone marrow function.
