Monkey pot facts

Monkey pot is a large, deciduous tree of dome shaped which has compressed leafy crown. It grows up to a height of about 50 meters in height. The trunk has fissured and greyish bark. The leaves are pink which turns mid-green with the dark speckles later. On the end of the twigs, the flowers form in racemes in September and October. The flowers have six purple petals which mostly attracts bees. The fruits are oblong or globose, cinnamon colored, woody; 6-15 cm (2.4-5.9 inch) long and 8.5-30 cm (3.3-11.8 inch) wide. Seeds are brown or red, elliptical and 5 cm (2.0 inch) long which takes from 11 to 12 months to get ripen.
