The lilac-colored pasque flower is covered with soft hairy down, usually producing only one or two flowers from its small root. The aerial parts are collected just before it flowers in the spring. Flowers are followed by equally-ornamental, plume-like seed heads (reminiscent of some clematis) in fluffy spherical clusters.
