If a night on the town has you experiencing a headache, nausea, or extreme thirst the morning after, the odds are that you have a hangover. It’s reported that between 3% and 23% of people are hangover-resistant. But if you’re not in that minority of people, you’ll want to know what to do.

The last thing you need — if you need to go to work, go to an appointment, or do something else on your agenda — is to suffer from a hangover that leaves you bedridden. Hangover symptoms can last more than a day, which might be too long if you’ve got things to do.

Fortunately, there are things you can do to gain relief from hangover symptoms sooner rather than later. Continue reading to see five natural remedies to help you get back on your feet.

1. B Vitamins

Why are B vitamins a good idea? In addition to facilitating nervous system and brain functions, B vitamins also assist in breaking down consumed alcohol. Do you have B vitamins at home? It won’t hurt to have some in your medicine cabinet. One option is to get a multivitamin that contains B vitamins and vitamin C, the latter of which will facilitate absorption of the former.

2. Activated Charcoal

Activated charcoal offers many benefits. It’s good for whitening teeth, removing toxins, detoxing from mold, cleaning drinking water, relieving gas and bloating, and helping with hangovers.  Activated charcoal can safeguard against the absorption of alcohol into your bloodstream, which can lessen the impact of alcohol on your body. Of course, the most effective remedy is abstaining from alcohol or drinking in moderation so that you don’t get a hangover in the first place. But taking some activated charcoal ahead of a night out on the town could help.

3. Coconut Water

Do you dream of sitting on a Caribbean beach while sipping fresh coconut water right out of a coconut? You don’t have to wait for a vacation to enjoy refreshing coconut water. You can do so at home — and it can help you get over hangover symptoms faster than might otherwise be the case. Coconut water will help you rehydrate quickly and replenish minerals lost by drinking too much alcohol.

4. Tomato Juice

Tomato juice can help you get over the symptoms of a hangover as well. It will enable your body to metabolize and eradicate the alcohol easier, so symptoms like headaches, nausea, and light sensitivity will subside faster. So, if you’re feeling the worse for wear after drinking too much alcohol, get a glass or two of tomato juice and drink to your health!

5. Physical Activity

Physical activity can be beneficial if you have a hangover. When working up a sweat, your body will release endorphins that make you feel more upbeat and alert. If you’re feeling woozy after a night of drinking, don’t over-exert yourself, and drink plenty of water to stay properly hydrated.

Consider these five natural remedies if you ever experience hangover symptoms. When partying with friends and consuming alcohol, your best bet is to monitor how much you’re consuming. And if you drink too much, getting a ride from a sober friend or calling an Uber ride is preferable to driving yourself home.  You don’t want to risk getting stopped by the authorities and accused of driving under the influence (DUI) or driving while intoxicated (DWI). You’ll need to reach out to a criminal defense lawyer for counsel and representation if this scenario plays out.

But you can avoid the risks of being charged with a DUI or DWI or having to hire a lawyer if you drink responsibly and avoid getting behind the wheel after a night of drinking.
