5 Simple Tips That Help Me Stay Healthy and Energetic Throughout The Day

I absolutely love working and being a mom and wife, but I won’t lie, sometimes it can be exhausting. And I know I’m not the only one who feels this way: about every single person I know has commented on how tired they feel at some point, how much they need a vacation, or how they would like to be able to just lay in bed for an entire day.

No matter how much we enjoy our job and obligations, it’s normal to feel tired and in need of some relaxation and rest. However, it does become a problem when you feel tired most of the time when it interferes with your productivity at work or at home, or even worse becomes a health problem. If this is your case, don’t worry, there are simple things you can do in your daily life to help you have more energy throughout the day and, therefore, be more successful.

The tips I’m going to share with you today involve adopting new, healthy habits in your life that can make a great difference in improving your energy levels. Needless to say, for them to become habits and see results you need to practice them constantly and not get frustrated when you don’t see immediate results. Without further ado, here are 5 tips to become more energetic and healthy.

1. Wake Up a Little Earlier Every Day

Yes, I know what you’re thinking: how on earth is waking up earlier going to make me feel more energized during the day? Well, I should start by saying that this tip includes going to bed earlier as well. I have found that I tend to do things more quickly in the morning, I’m sharper, I think and move faster than late at night. So, waking up a little bit earlier every day can help you get things done faster, which translates into more time for yourself at night.

I’m not saying you should start going to bed at 9 p.m and waking up at 5 a.m if you’re not used to doing so, but maybe start by waking up 15 minutes earlier and dedicating those 15 minutes to doing something you need to do, then going to bed 15 minutes earlier at night. Then 20 minutes, then half an hour, and so on.

2. Better Time Management

Do you ever get the feeling that there are not enough hours in the day to do everything? Do you tend to stay up late finishing something that you couldn’t get done earlier? There are two main culprits: either you’re taking up more than you can handle -in which case I recommend, from the bottom of my heart, to prioritize and maybe drop something, for the sake of your health-, or you are just not managing your time right.

There are a few time management tips you can implement to help you be more organized with your time and get things done faster: blocking out distractions, delegating if you can, pegging a time limit for each task, having a clock visibly placed so you can track your time, and making a daily plan are a few examples.

3. Exercise Regularly

Believe it or not, regular exercise can seriously increase your energy and fight fatigue, not to mention the hundreds of benefits it brings for your health. When you’re tired, the last thing you probably want to do is go out for a run, but trust me, after you actually gather up enough willpower and go for it, it feels amazing! You feel renewed and ready to take on whatever the rest of the day brings.

Exercise is so powerful that it can even increase energy levels in people who are suffering from chronic illnesses such as cancer and heart disease. In addition, most rehabilitation programs include regular exercise as an essential component to help addicts recover physically. If it works for them, I’m positive it can work for you too.

The best part is you can choose any type of exercise you like. Whether it’s going for a walk or a run in the park by yourself, playing a sport with your friends, going to the gym or joining a Zumba class. The important thing is to keep your body in motion.

4. Meditate

Stress is a big energy drainer, and, nowadays, it seems like everyone is stressed all the time. Society’s idea of success is always having something to do, always being productive, being in a rush, etc. But, we often ignore the fact that these things are bad for your health; we all need time to unplug and get in touch with our souls.

A great way to do this is meditating. If you’ve never done it before, it can be as simple as just sitting with your eyes closed and focusing on your breathing for a few minutes. Inhale through your nose, hold it a few seconds, then exhale through your mouth. There are also guided meditations you can find on YouTube or other apps.

5. Make Changes to Your Diet

Certain foods can make you feel fatigued because of how difficult they are for your body to process, others, like simple carbohydrates, can give you an energy rush but then leave you feeling even more tired than before. Luckily, there are many healthy foods that can give you the energy you need by incorporating them into your diet.

Foods rich in antioxidants, like berries, melons, kale, broccoli, collard greens, and spinach, can help you get rid of the toxins that damage your health and make you feel fatigued. Omega 3 fats, which can be found in wild salmon, flax seeds, flax oil, hemp seeds, hemp oil, leafy greens, or walnuts, improve mood, memory, and thinking, which can, in turn, help you feel more energized. There you go, these are the 5 tips that help me the most when it comes to maintaining my energy throughout the day, no matter how challenging it may get. Remember that these tips aren’t magic, and for them to work you need to keep practicing them over and over. But before you know it, you’ll get so used to them and they will help a lot. Not only will they increase your energy, but they will also help you improve your health. Ultimately, you will feel happier and be more successful. I hope they are as effective to you as they were for me!
