    Cider syrup onions recipe

    These onions are an essential condiment for burgers, sandwiches, pizza, and pasta dishes. They are sweet and rich, with a bump of brightness, and will easily elevate everything they accompany.

    • Yield: 1 cup

    Ingredients

    • 2 large onions
    • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
    • 2 tablespoons cider syrup
    • ½ teaspoon sea salt
    How to Make It
    1. Peel the onions, trim off the ends, and cut in half. With the cut side down on your cutting board, slice them thinly.
    2. Heat the olive oil in a sauté pan over medium heat. Add the onions, stir, and cover. Reduce the heat to low and cook until the onions are tender and slightly caramelized, about 25 minutes.
    3. Stir in the syrup and salt, then remove from the heat. Use right away or refrigerate for up to 1 week for future meals.
